Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
5.1 Assess student learning
Throughout my Year 8 lessons, I incorporated formative and summative assessment to gage the progress of students. Kahoot, topic test and project presentation was used as means to understand students level of understanding and ability to apply knowledge. Kahoot was particularly used in every lesson to provide information on student learning so adjustments could be made to increase learning quality.
5.2 Provide feedback to students on their learning
I met this standard by giving students feedback on their oral presentations in my year 8 class. Students were spoken to after their presentation and given feedback and marks on the spot on how they went on their presentations. They were also allowed to make changes to their slides before submission based on the feedback they received..
5.3 Make consistent and comparable judgements
I used a criteria sheet for the assessment of the Year 8 Science Presentation which ensured marking was fair and consistent. Students were also aware of the requirement before they begin working on their projects.
5.4 Interpret student data
Use of Kahoot and written formative assessment to assess student progress. Use each class Kahoot result (see 2.1) to advise if which portion of past lessons need to be repeated / further elaborated.
